Divided by Lalu Island, the Sun Moon Lake scenic area got its name from the unique terrain that looked like a sun on one side and a crescent moon on the other. Crowned as one of the Eight Wonders of Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake is also the most famous source of hydroelectric power; offering key tourist themes - “high mountain and lake”, “indigenous culture”, and “nature ecology,” the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area attracts more than six million visitors each year.
15:40~17:00  Xitou Nature Education Area
Xitou is located in the Phoenix hill of Lugu village, and is embraced by mountains from three sides. Its name is derived from the Chinese meaning: the origin of the river (Beishi River). Xitou has plenty of rains, and is cool and moist all the year round. Therefore, it is one of the most famous resort spots in summer and the most romantic place for new couples to spend their honeymoons. Xitou is part of the experimental forest belonging to the National Taiwan University, and here grows cedars, Chamaecyparis obtuse, red spruces, Phyllostachys edulis, and many other different kinds of trees. Except for a small well-preserved natural broad-leaves forest, most parts of this area have been developed and cultivated purposely. Generally speaking, the feature of the forest here is beautiful and tidy. Here you can visit the unique pure ginkgo forest, the rare plant of redwood, the divine tree 46 meter high and 16 meter broad and with an age approaching 3,000, Youth's Activity Center, birds observing footpath, hotels, restaurants, camping area and so on.

15:00~17:00  National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts used to be known as Taiwan Museum of Art. At that time, Taiwan Provincial Government upheld the policy whereby central government strengthened cultural development, on the basis of the needs of the people and recommendations from figures in the world of the arts. On 8th February 1980, a meeting chaired by Chairman Lin Yang-kang resolved to establish the museum. In June, 1988, the museum was opened for operations under the auspices of the Taiwan Provincial Government’s department of education. In 1997 it was placed under the auspices of the Taiwan Provincial Government’s department of culture, and in 1999 the premises were closed for renovation. In July of the same year, because of the policy decision to downsize Taiwan Provincial Government, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Council of Cultural Affairs (restructured as the Ministry of Culture on 20th May, 2012), and its name changed to National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, as it became Taiwan’s first national level museum of fine arts
17:10~17:40  Liuchuan Canal Waterfront
After dredging and improvements, Liuchuan (Willow  River) Canal has immediately become a top attraction in Taichung City. During the day, Liuchuan gives a carefree vibe perfect for family outings as kids can have fun watching koi fish in the clean water. As night falls, Liuchuan turns into a romantic setting as willows and the swan art installation are illuminated with sparkling lights. It is a great place for night photography and a lovely dating place where couples can leisurely stroll along the canal.
Liuchuan Canal is used for water regulation in between low flow and high flow seasons. It is flexible like a sponge capable of absorbing and releasing water.
Liuchuan Canal was once heavily polluted. Water quality has been significantly improved by intercepting upstream flow of Liuchuan Canal to Zhonghua water treatment plant. Pollution has been contained to a mild level. In addition to the newly planted 37 trees on both sides of the riverbank, 38 willows were also rooted to recreate the original setting of Liuchuan. Moreover, a variety of native plants like Chinese fringe tree, Taiwanese rain tree and Himalayan ash enrich Liuchuan’s scenery throughout the year.

09:30~10:30  Visting School
11:00~11:30  Miyahara
Situated nearby Taichung Train Station on the bank of Luchuan, Miyahara is a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology doctor in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After the surrender of Japan in 1945, Miyahara became Taichung Health Bureau. As time passed by, the suspended Health Bureau slowly decayed and became an unused dangerous building.
Fortunately, Dawn Cake, a pastry company renowned for its pineapple cakes, acquired the building and preserved Miyahara's original red-brick walls and archway. The interior decor was redesigned like Hogwarts in the movie Harry Potter. The water well in the middle of the building is redecorated into a modern-looking fundraising box made of glass.
Visitors to Miyahara are not only recommended to appreciate the details of the historic architecture but also try Dawn Cake’s signature ice cream, bubble tea and pastries wrapped in nostalgic packings!
11:40~13:30  Lunch
13:40~14:30  CMP Block Museum of Arts
15:30~16:30  National Taichung Theater
National Taichung Theater, nicknamed “the Most Difficult House to Accomplish” by the industry, was designed by the internationally acclaimed Japanese architect, Toyo Ito.
Drawn from the concept of the Sound Cave, National Taichung Theater makes the best of its streamlined, rigid silhouette by means of modern techniques and materials, and then turns itself into an active venue.
The images of streams and hanging gardens on the exterior of the opera house break the usual binary separation between stage and audience, as well as outdoors and indoors. It aims to initiate more conversations among people, art and architecture, while bringing people back to the basic aspect of life: feeling real
